“Dedication involves making the space to let young ideas take hold; every tree was once a seed and every company was once an idea."
With this very thought, Crosslinks, the face of NSIT, was started three years ago, with a vision for the institute, with a hope for a dazzling future, and with a dedication to make NSIT known to one and all. And to this day, the society functions on the same motto, working ad infinitum to bring the world face to face with “brand NSIT”. From numerous articles in newspapers, to live coverage of cultural fests on national television, Crosslinks has finally got out of its groove as not just a media management society, but also as a forum which students trust and rely on.
Started with a group of 6 enthusiastic students, over the years, Crosslinks has churned out more and more committed souls, willing to do anything to give NSIT the publicity it deserves. The group has had to face many hurdles within this period of time, but it has only made it more determined to bring into reality the dream of creating a niche for NSIT as a brand in technical education and as a fun institution to be a part of. It has come a long way, with an article a week in almost all leading dailies, to almost 9 TV crews, including Sahara Samay, Zee News, Total TV, Aajtak, covering Moksha, our annual cultural fest The newsletter is an attempt by the society to personalize with the students, to give them an assurance that Crosslinks, at the end of the day is a society by the students, for the students. With the warm response that the previous editions of the newsletter received, we hope that Crosslinks has finally impacted the life of NSITians in some small way. As batch after batch pass out of the college, the baton is handed to younger and more passionate students, striving to give their best to announce the arrival of brand NSIT in the grandest possible way. Here’s a short review into the various aspects of Crosslinks:
MEDIA MANAGEMENT AND FESTS: Moksha, Resonanz, Innovision are names to reckon with when it comes to fests, and Crosslinks plays a major role in the publicity of these fests. Be it Intra College or Inter College fests, Crosslinks works day in and out to in the pre fest as well as post fest publicity. Moreover with the level of fests rising day by day, the number of celebrity performers also rises. The media management group handles the fathomable task of handling all the media attention that these fests receive. The last inter college fest Moksha 2007 witnessed huge response from the media channels, including 9 TV crews at the press conference hosted for Kailash Kher, before his performance. Media management is not just restricted to fests. The daily achievements by NSITians, the various conclaves of societies, the projects by the students, all these keep the Crosslinks members on their toes. We have had a continuous coverage in most leading dailies such as HT (Horizons), India Today (Aspire), et al.
NEWSLETTER: This biannual newsletter of NSIT, “Technik” is not just a mere printed newsletter. It is a tribute to this institution and to its continuous endeavor to reach a pinnacle that defies all else. It is a homage to achievements big and small, and to successes achieved and yet to be achieved. It is a window into our world, a reflection of our past and an echo into our future, bright as it may seem. No amount of pages could ever describe the accomplishments of the institute. The newsletter is a showcase of the ventures of students, and also includes some articles on issues of interest to students, such as tips on cracking the CAT, how to build the winning robot, et al. Special efforts have been made to keep students abreast of the information about the past events as well as events scheduled to take place in the near future. Immense hard work goes into putting together this newsletter, for after all; it is a mirror of this institute. Students of all years get together, brimming with ideas about the content, the design, and the negotiations with printer. It is a great learning experience for juniors, and a fabulous time for them to interact with seniors and get ready to handle better things in the future.
REPRESENTATION OF COLLEGE IN ALL INDIA SURVEYS: Surveys conducted by magazines have become an important measure of the strength of a technical school. Crosslinks has a major role to play in these surveys, as a group which represents the college and prepares presentations and reports regarding the college’s performance. It gives the students a chance to be a part of the bigger picture, in dealing with media, and in giving the college its due credit. NSIT has shown a commendable performance in these surveys, placed 19th in the India Today survey, and 7th in placements in the Dataquest IDC survey.
With the warm response that this society has received from students and the faculty, we hope that Crosslinks has finally impacted the life of NSITians in some small way. As batch after batch pass out of the college, the baton is handed to younger and more passionate students, striving to give their best to announce the arrival of brand NSIT in the grandest possible way….
