NSIT Motorsports is an interdisciplinary group of 21 students from Manufacturing Processes and Automation, Instrumentation & Control and Electronics disciplines who participate in the SAE Mini Baja series. The team is dedicated to building a car capable of winning the Mini Baja competitions, while offering its members the experience of navigating the challenges of working in a team under the pressure of deadlines. NSIT Motorsports successfully participaed in the 2007 SAE Sasol Mini Baja Competition, held in Gerotek racing grounds at Pretoria, South Africa. BEST ASIAN TEAM IN STATIC JUDGING!
Apart from this NSIT Motorsports showed their mettle in various departments of their design. Their detailed results are as follows:
* Best Asian Team in Static Judging and 19th overall
* 2nd worldwide in Suspension, Steering and Brakes
* 4th worldwide in Cost Event
* 2nd in Asia and 6th overall in Operator Comfort
* 8th worldwide in Design Report
* Servicibility Of Vehicle (Tied 1st and 2nd in suspension and brakes)
* Best Finish by an Indian First-Time Team
* 16th worldwide in Originality and Innovation
* Finished 22nd overall.
The other Asian Teams include Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)
Delhi, Delhi College of Engineering (DCE), Vellore Institute of
Technology (VIT), Sir. M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (Sir
MVIT) and Bogazici University, Istanbul.
NSIT Motorsports has completed its second vehicle and has successfully taken part in BAJA SAE India. And whats more, it is already on its third ATV! NSIT Motorsports also has a SOLAR HYBRID TRIKE under its belt and electronic innovations like a GPS Module and a gear shift indicator amongst more whacky stuff.
